You guys did it again!!
What an energetic and dynamic group! We were so blessed by this team.
They went to several High School and Elementary School to share the Love of Jesus Christ and the response from kids was so overwhelming.
This team also did a wonderful VBS at Prayer Mountain for 5 days.
And the medical team also did a great job in various villages.
Unfortunately I don't have any pictures to show.., Hey! you guys from this mission team, could you kindly send me some(just a few) pictures? thanks.

A special thanks and apology to everyone who has been checking our site, and who may be a little miffed that there haven't been many news updates.

But it's not for lack of information, that's for sure.

As I was going over my notes, I realized there was a lot of stuff packed into the shortest month of the year.   We welcomed a new intern and a visiting pastor, and Bro. Han and Sis. Lee visited the U.S.  Our newest church had its official inauguration, while another church celebrated its 9th anniversary.

MJ Kim, our intern from Dallas, joined us on Feb. 2. On Feb. 4, Brother Han and Sister Lee left for Dallas to visit KCUMC. MJ and I held down the fort while they were gone, which means we fed the dogs, drove to church services and didn't set anything on fire, wreck the van, leave the gas on, lose Camir (Sister Lee's beloved lapdog) or otherwise destroy anything. All in all, it was a nice week.

Brother Han returned Friday, Feb. 12, after an overnight delay in Miami. Sister Lee came back on the 18th, after a full checkup and some much needed rest.

Soon after Brother Han's return, we officially welcomed La Iglesia Filadelfia de Billie White into our ministry with a night of worship and food. Over a hundred people from Central Farm, Teakettle, Santa Cruz and Camalote came out to celebrate and welcome their brothers and sisters in Christ.

On the 17th, we welcomed Pastor Kim from Seattle, Wash., for a few days. We were blessed to meet him, and we hope to see him in the future, if not in Belize then in Heaven.

In other news, Bethel Disciples Church celebrated Chinese New Year at Johnny and Jill Chiang's. Unitedville Church had its 9th anniversary, and Brother Han bought a drum set for Valley Community Church.

To finish up an already full month, we just had a four-night prayer week at Prayer Mountain, ending with a Grand Service on Friday, hosted by Santa Elena. My computer's motherboard got fried, and I lost most of my pictures and documents, at least temporarily.   Camalote Church hosted Fraternal on Saturday, the 27th.

And now, before we get a chance to catch our breath, we're prepping for the mission team from Centerpoint Christian Fellowship (my church in Gainesville Florida), who are coming this Friday, March 5.

]]><![CDATA[Prayers for Haiti]]>Sun, 31 Jan 2010 10:42:36 -0800http://www.prayermountainbelize.com/2/post/2010/01/prayers-for-haiti.htmlI'm sure all of you have seen at least something about the devastation in Haiti, and I hope you're keeping them in your prayers. ABC News said Monday that the death toll in Port-au-Prince alone is about 150,000, which is about half of the entire population of Belize. It's a tragedy, to be sure, but I think it also says something about the power of hope and the human spirit. I've read several stories about people who've miraculously stayed alive for one, two weeks while buried under destroyed buildings. It's easy to get overwhelmed by the need, but it's through overwhelming odds that God shows just how good He is.
Also, keep the aid workers in Haiti in your prayers. I can't imagine what it must be like for one volunteer to see thousands of people in need, but my hope is that those people who have been called to help will stay calm and clear-headed and full of love.

I hope you're all happy and well with your families and thanking God for a year of blessings. It's been a wild, challenging, exciting few months for me, and a lot has happened since this web site thing got up 'n' running.

So, you might be wondering...where was I in December? What happened in December?

On the 11th of December, 15 great people from Journey of Faith Church in Dallas came to Belize for a week. They spent their time visiting villages in Belize and Guatemala to provide medical care and pray for the people. At night, they held worship training and computer classes at Prayer Mountain. In all it was a great time, and I'm pretty sure they all went home happily exhausted. I know everyone (me included) was so blessed that they came, and sad to see them go. As a donation to the ministry, they left several computers, a clothes dryer, a water purifier, clothes and medicine.

The visit from the Dallas team sort of split the month in half. Before they came, the Harvest season was winding down, and our church in Santa Cruz had hosted its 3-day Campaña, or revival. By the time they left, it was practically Christmas. The temperature dipped into the mid 60s for about a day and a half, which gave everyone a chance to pull out their sweaters and enjoy the cold..er, cool. A lot of families in Belize use the time before Christmas to clean out their closets and put a coat of paint on their houses, as a way of making a fresh start for the new year.

So, what about your fresh start?

Is this the year to lose that last couple of pounds, finally clean out the shed, save a little more money? Or maybe you're just trying to recover from Christmas?

Maybe it's something a little simpler, like hugging your kids more often, even if they say they don't like it (they do, trust me).

Or saying 'I love you' to your spouse right after a nasty fight.

Or listening to your friends' problems without judgment.

Or just saying 'have a nice day' to a stranger, and really meaning it.

Love is the common denominator here, and only through loving Christ can we really love each other this year.

We've been making slow, sometimes unsteady but always faithful steps toward the construction of our churches in Santa Cruz, Valley Community, Camalote and Billie White. But when we find out about a problem in the community, we sometimes have to set our plans aside and pool our resources to help those who need it most.
In other words, God gives us new plans.
In Camalote this month, we were faced with a troubling family dilemma. Three children, orphaned and living with their older sister, were being kicked out of their home by their sister's boyfriend. The older sister was terrified at the thought of losing her siblings but, since her boyfriend paid the bills, her choices were limited. So she went to Pastor Marvin Gomez in tears, and Pastor Marvin contacted Bro. Han and Sister Lee.
Armed with a generator a few tools and just enough money, Bro. Han and members of Bethel Disciples Church in Belmopan built the children a new house in a matter of days. The kids now have a safe place to live, where they are looked after by both the pastor's family and their sister, who lives nearby. Praise God for his provision!

Tropical Storm Ida has just formed in the Caribbean and is heading toward Nicaragua.
If you could hear the rain in Belize now--on a zinc roof, it sounds like a bucketful of nails and drowns out even your thoughts.
We expect heavy rains and floods in Belize until at least Sunday, with the possibility of worse weather next week. Please keep Central America's weather in your prayers this week.
